Decades of dedicated service to grassroots football were recognised by the Football Association with the presentation of a 50 year award to Des Villis, the President of the Bristol and Suburban Association Football League at the last Council Meeting of the League.
Des's love of the game began in 1956 when he joined Avonmouth and he was to stay with them long after his playing days were over, serving as Youth Secretary, Club Secretary and becoming a Life Member in 1990.
A winner of the prestigious Tom Pitts award for the best Secretary in the League in 1990.

A member of the Gloucestershire FA since 1996 he has long been a key member in the running of the GFA Representative teams.
Des has spent all his football career attached to one Club, Avonmouth a very rare event in this day and age
