Biography | Roger was elected Chairman of the Suburban League at the Annual General Meeting in June 2008.
He’s always had a passion for the game of football. At the age of three he watched his first Bristol Rovers game with his family and by the age of eleven he was a ball boy. Having left school to sign as an apprentice with Bristol Rovers where he played for the reserve team for a couple of seasons as well as playing Cricket for St George.
His association with the Suburban league began back in the 70’s, firstly with BAWA Aces, then as a founder member and Manager of BARR United. He then became Manager for Frenchay Hospital, whose club secretary was the late Paul Britton (who many of you will know was later become the GFA Secretary). He then signed for Glenside St Gabriel’s (now Glenside Five Old Boys) firstly as a player, then moved on as one of the team managers and finally becoming the club secretary, during which time he was awarded the Slater Stone trophy three times and the first person to be win the Tom Pitts award twice. During 1993, while still a Club Secretary he also took on the position of Suburban League Transfer & Registration Secretary (a position he still holds to this present time).
Lets all give Roger every support we can during the coming season and wish him every success in the new role
